Why choose DuTrac?
DuTrac Community Credit Union members have the best of both worlds, BOTH big and small. DuTrac is part of a safe and solid financial system that holds more than $480 billion in assets for 79 million people in the United States and; DuTrac is unique because we have local interests at heart and put you first.
DuTrac is structured on democratic principles of one-member, one-vote. This structure is vastly different from the for-profit sector where stockholders vote according to the number of shares of stock they own. We offer the financial services our members want and need. Sometimes this means coming up with a new service or improving an existing service to better-fit member needs. We do whatever it takes because we serve you, our members.
Year after year, credit unions consistently outshine banks in the area of consumer/member satisfaction. For more than a decade, national studies have consistently shown that credit unions, overall, offer lower loan rates and higher savings rates than banks and other financial institutions. These studies also show that credit unions require fewer fees for services, and those occasional fees are lower than those charged by for-profit financial services providers. In a world where services are increasingly conducted through electronic transactions (ATMs, touchtone tellers, online access and bill paying, etc.), this difference in fees can add up to significant savings.
Once a member, always a member. You’ll enjoy the privileges of DuTrac Community Credit Union membership for as long as you maintain an active account, through job changes, career shifts, or a physical move of residence.
Credit unions are cooperatives. A cooperative is a group of people who organize together for a common purpose. In this case, a credit union is a cooperative of people providing financial services. In addition, because credit unions are cooperatives, they are democratically run – just like the good ol’ USA – with one member, one vote. So no matter how much (or how little) money a member makes or has placed in a credit union, each member has one vote at all times. Each member shares the advantage of being treated equally, as each member has an equal share of ownership in the credit union. We call it the power of one.
Credit unions are not-for-profit. Although credit unions earn a profit like any other business, the profits are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates and higher deposit rates - unlike a bank where profits go into the pockets of the investors/owners. Some experts have noted that wherever there is a credit union, loan rates are lower and savings rates are higher. But you might say, “I can get the same rate at a local bank as I can at my local credit union.” A point to ponder might be, “What might your rate have been if it were not for the competition of your local credit union’s lower loan rates in the market place?” Credit unions are best described as the guys in the white hats, working to help individuals and their families achieve their versions of the American dream.
Oh, and by the way, the whole “member” thing is because YOU own us,
